Community River Days

Community River Days bring underrepresented communities to the water to recreate together, learn foundational river safety, and experience the joy and healing that rivers provide. These river days are designed to lower barriers and build belonging on our waterways, while planting the seeds of confidence, connection, and stewardship.

Why we do it

Riverbound’s mission is to foster a diverse community through paddlesports and to empower people from all backgrounds to care for the places we love. When more people feel welcome on the river, we grow the next generation of environmental stewards and leaders—locally and beyond.

What to expect

  • Safety & Skills: Introductions to water safety, communication and leadership on the river, plus environmental awareness woven throughout the day.

  • Community & Joy: Time on the water, shared meals or breaks, and space for reflection and connection.

Who it’s for

Community River Days prioritize participants historically excluded from paddlesports, including womxn, Black, Indigenous, and People of Color, LGBTQ+ folks, youth facing adversity, and economically disadvantaged community members. Partners and allies are welcome in a spirit of inclusion.

Our approach

We meet people where they are—centering access, representation, and care for our rivers. Each gathering is an invitation to discover personal strength, build community, and deepen our collective responsibility to protect waterways for future generations.

Join us

Bring Community River Days to your area—request a local river date, sponsor an event, or donate so more people can get on the water. Together, we’ll expand access and grow a thriving, inclusive paddling community.
